I love ColdFusion, no question. It let some loser guitar player (no computer programming experience) who only "messed around" with HTML:
- Learn what a query is and how to Select, Insert, Update and Delete (my first job as a programmer, how I swung I don’t know, maybe the dotBomb era was a little lenient on newbeezzz [1997] )
- Learn what a loop is (that was cool, blew my mind [1999])
- Learn what a struct is (wow, those are neat [2000])
- Lear what an array is (ohh my goodness [2000])
- Learn to loop over a strut (what a day that was [2001])
That was the last couple of years.
I loved CF cause it got me a job and helped me write write some VERY scary code.
Now in the new era, CF lets this loser guitar player do things like:
- Build to composition
- Build in a framework (MG:U rules and I am LOVEING Mii, and life ends without CS)
- oohhhhh yea and grok what OOP is
- ohhhhh even better more OOP OOP and more neat OOP!
My little instaSpot will focus on how a loser guitar player can go from NOTHING to "pretty happy with some of my code" in just one year of HARD, FUN, IN THE TRENCHES, GOTTA DO IT, kinda work.
I hope that my friends I am showing stuff to will also get some instaSpots and spread the love, while also spreading the knowledge so we can spread the jobs and spread the money then spread… ummmm…
Also, I would be totally remiss if I didn’t thank the people who have helped me. The ColdFusion community is THE BEST, NICEST, coolest, and greatest thing around. SO BIG THANKS TO THESE GREAT PEOPLE:
- Sean Corfield
- Ray Camden
- Joe Rinehart
- Mat Woodward
- Peter Bell
- Brian Rinaldi
- Ben Forta
- Rob Gonda
- Doug Hughes (thanks for ReactorBlog, it was my primary source to answer many many questions)
Lots more people for this list, need to get back to work now.
